Units, measurements and scientific notation

The idea
A physical quantity is written as a number with a unit. The SI system gives scientists a common language: metre for length, kilogram for mass and second for time. Scientific notation writes very large or very small values as a number from 1 to 10 multiplied by a power of ten.
